In 2009 the Permanent Gallery in Brighton made reprints of Jeff Keen`s 1960s Rayday broadsheets, gathered together in a specially made box, and they asked Ian Helliwell to contribute a collage timeline to evoke the flavour of Keen`s life and work. They organised an exhibition to launch the Rayday box and the Gazwrx dvd set, with Helliwell also showing elements from his Art Flies Free super 8 film. He exhibited 35mm slides, and created new loops from part of the film`s soundtrack - one on reel to reel tape, and the other a recording onto magnetic striped super 8 film adorned with letraset shapes and words. For the exhibition launch Helliwell played a live improvised set with his self-built Hellitron tone generators, early versions of which had been used back in 2000 for Art Flies Free, in combination with Jeff Keen reading extracts of his Rayday text.
